Ear infection, with minor surgery
Ear infections may be related to a cold or allergy and may be caused by bacteria or a virus. They are most common in children ages 6 months to 6 years. A typical symptom is an earache. Recurring ear infections that don’t respond to antibiotics may require surgery. Note: Estimates below are based on Medica Choice network contract rates and include the total cost of care for an ear infection that leads to minor surgery (for example, physician visits, medication, physician and facility fees for the surgery itself, and follow-up care). Estimates are shown for all types of providers that treat ear infections.
